hello world! I've decided to create a blog because I had so much fun writing about my adventures in Viet Nam, and people said that they enjoyed reading about them. Now that I'm back in my old yet new stomping grounds of Vancouver, I thought I would continue along, as my life seems to be stranger than fiction.
Most recently, I was meeting some friends at Hawker's Delight on Main St. a gem of a place, cheap, cheap delish eats from Singapore and Malaysia! I was a bit early, so I dropped into the local supermarche and was accosted by a woman who enlisted my help in choosing a mayonaise to make potato salad. She was so charming and sweet, the reason that I go outside! We had a great convo about mayo in the aisles. After sweating out a lovely meal (humidity and spice added to the South East Asian feel of it all) we hiked up Main to have some gelati, which seems to be the newest eating craze, like wraps and smoothies, tapas and sushi, bubble tea. Oh well, I sampled "cola" flavour and decided on "licorice". It tasted vaguely of coffee and left an aftertaste like those little candies we used to eat back in the day. I finally found The Grind, and I will have to visit it again in the wee small hours of some other morning.
Deep fried goodness and hip hop has brought me back together with Danielle..aka MizThang, who will be performing at Voda this Saturday nite. She just got back from Manila after opening for the Black Eyed Peas there, so it should be quite the show.
