sebfest: part deux

it was another beautiful tuesday in vancity, and i started it off by heading downtown to visit Gerri and Spec, and to pick up some fancy recording equipment. next up was the library where i found some books and some instructional material on how to comp...by the time i made it home it was 1pm already!

i prettied my home and read a bit, practiced a bit, just lounged in general, and before i knew it, seb buzzed my door.

we cruised in the convertible midget (i've never really liked cars until i started hanging out with this person) and i LOVE this one, in fact, it's making me want to learn how to drive (a stick no less) so that i can one day own this vehicle.

we went to oakridge, where we visited our old friends at boys'co and i was alarmed to find that the whole homie trade had been shut down because someone is a homie hoarder. i left some bananas in protest and bought a hat. it's pretty nice, and i've been very good at not buying anything, so it was a treat. besides, it came with a complimentary magnet.

next up, the origins counter where we visited with the mizthang..all the sisters were working so i was able to introduce bes to the brood. i think he's sold on the facial experience, as well as the product, and we both left glowing.

back at the homestead, i fixed up a dinner of ginger/maple syrup chicken, indian rice, and steamed asaparagus, complimented by a mango nectar because no one's mother was there to actually peel the fruit (for the fruit).

we rushed to IGA to fill up the 18L of water (guess i have two boyfriends that can carry my water now) and were concerned that it would impede the performance of the car. that worry was fruitless however, as the midget weaved in and out of traffic just fine. i also bought myself some soy ice cream (had cookies in it, and i think the wheat made me sick) but i thoroughly enjoyed it at the time, in the car and in the movie theatre, i also spilled it on myself, to top off a day of spilling various things on myself.

we enjoyed the Ridge's offering of the double billing of "p.s." and "the woodsman". who would've thunk that laura linney would be so damn hot and well dressed for a woman of her age? and that dame dash produced "the woodsman"? guess he's branching out...and mos def is a pretty good actor, but eve needs more than just bit parts. they were both good because of their lack of 'hollywood' quality, but believable because the characters were flawed, troubled, and yes, human. when patti labelle came on singing "eye on the sparrow", i was very moved because it made me think of my teenage drama queens and their talent...and why i wake up every day great-full that i have a rewarding and lucrative career in my sights.

i had lunch with my dad today, all the way in richmond, but i made it back on the same transfer so it's all good.

i'm reading this really excellent book about Sarah DeVries, one of the sex workers that was missing from the downtown eastside until her remains were found on that pig farm, and it's really interesting the history that i'm learning about vancouver along the way. i do love this city, and i'm claiming roots here, something that i don't think i was ready to do a year ago even.

oh, and i'm not as broke as i thought, but i think the hysteria of being broke probably helped this fact, go figure. all4now.
